NBTA important issues (21 October 2011)
Five things for your consideration and action:
- Emergency Response Day - Thursday 8th September
We have put together the best program to date. Some of the most senior emergency responders from around the country. Several new initiatives, one of which will occupy us for the next 12 months, along with the release of the Emergency Responder courses and website.
All I need is to ensure that our members support the event. If you have not, I need you to enrol now at http://www.freightweek.com.au/emergency-day
- Member survey - what are you thinking?
It's time to take stock. What do members want? Technical stuff, networking, social functions, tours, regular meetings or none of the above. To find out your inner thoughts we have designed an electronic survey. I need you to fill it out. It can be anonymous if you like. Go to http://www.nbta.com.au/survey/
Responses will remain open during September but do it now
- Electronic Work Diaries - got 15 minutes to do a telephone survey?
RTA NSW are gearing up for EWD's. To make sure they have got it right they have commissioned Monash Uni's Accident Research Centre (MUARC) to do telephone interviews with operators. If you want to help out and learn a bit more about EWD's then give Vanessa Beanland at MUARC a call on 03 9905 1810 or
vanessa.beanland@monash.edu
- Traffic alerts in NSW - get on the email alert
RTA NSW introduced an email alert when key highways and freeways roads are blocked due to accidents or other causes. To join the list email emma_swift@rta.nsw.gov.au or call her on 02 8396 7942
There is not much for free from RTA NSW so grab this one!
- Chemicals of Security Concern - briefings and survey
The Federal Government has identified 11 chemicals of security concern that it plans to put restrictions on their use, distribution and storage. They are running briefing sessions around Australia. To get on the list send an email to chemicalsecurity@au.pwc.com
We will invite them to our 2nd December meeting
That is enough for now!
Note our final meeting for the year on the afternoon of the 2nd December to be followed by our traditional Christmas Dinner. This years venue to be revealed soon. I can say that it will be the "best ever!"
